Atomic Waste

People in Wendland fight against nuclear power

Atomic Waste People in Wendland are famous in Germany for their opposition to nuclear power. This film follows their struggle to create a nuclear-free region.
Wendlanders have been fighting nuclear power for over 30 years. Despite a recent decision by the SDP-Green central government to phase out nuclear power in Germany, the struggle continues. A small town in Wendland. Gorleben, has been chosen to store nuclear waste while the phasing out is implemented. The Green Party, incremental in the initial anti-nuclear movement, support the transportation of nuclear waste. The people on the ground however, now losing faith in their once favourite political party, are ready to resist. An in-depth look at the notorious anti-nuclear movement in Germany, featuring fantastic footage of the protests.
