Killer Number one Resistance to anti-malaria drugs across Africa is growing. It's the number one killer in countries like Ethiopia and production of new drugs cannot keep up with demand.
Drugs like Coartem only work when all tablets are consumed. However, many patients stop taking them before they're cured. Forty percent of the population in Ethiopia have no access to basic healthcare. Malaria is devastating the rural economy. "We have shortage of drugs here", complains one doctor. The UN has launched the largest ever rollback programme. They aim to distribute millions of nets to stop the epidemics developing in the first place
